Initial enquiry or referral
The patient expresses interest in dental implants and schedules an initial consultation with a dental professional.
2. Consultation
During the consultation, the dentist evaluates the patient's oral health, examines the affected area, and discusses the feasibility of dental implants as a treatment option.
The dentist explains the procedure, potential risks, benefits, and costs associated with dental implants. They may also take dental impressions and X-rays for further evaluation.
3. Treatment Planning
Based on the assessment, the dentist develops a personalised treatment plan that outlines the implant placement procedure, number of implants required, and any additional procedures (e.g., bone grafting or extractions) that may be necessary.
4. Patient reflects on the outlined suggested treatment
At this stage, any questions would be welcome and a team member can explain any aspect of the treatment outlined.
Once a decision is made by the patient a team member can schedule the implant placement procedure.
5. Implant Placement
On the day of the implant placement, the patient may receive local anesthesia or sedation to ensure comfort during the procedure.
The dentist surgically places the dental implant(s) into the jawbone, following precise measurements and techniques.
In some cases, the dentist may attach a temporary restoration (such as a temporary crown) to the implant to provide aesthetic and functional benefits during the healing period.
6. Osseointegration and Healing
After the implant placement, a healing period is required to allow osseointegration, the process by which the implant fuses with the jawbone. Typically 3-6 months.
During this time, the patient may need to follow specific oral hygiene instructions and maintain regular check-ups with the dentist to monitor the healing progress.
7. Implant impression
Once osseointegration is complete, the patient returns were we take impression and gather the necessary measurements and information to manufacture your custom implant crown.
8. Prosthetic Placement
The patient returns for the placement of the permanent prosthetic, such as a crown, bridge, or denture, on the dental implant.
The dentist carefully attaches the custom-made prosthetic, ensuring proper fit, functionality, and aesthetics.
Any necessary adjustments are made, and the patient is educated on the maintenance and care of prosthesis.
9. Follow-Up Review and Maintenance
After the completion of the implant treatment, the patient is scheduled for follow-up reviews to monitor the long-term success and functionality of the implants.
These reviews may include X-rays, and professional cleanings to ensure the health of the implant and surrounding tissues.
